Lesson Ideas For Your Classroom

Looking for something to do in the classroom that reinforces waste reduction issues in a fun and challenging way? These lesson ideas created by EcoSource will lead students through an interdisciplinary, curriculum-based learning experience. Carefully planned out lessons introduce students to the three Rs hierarchy. These lessons guide students from gaining an understanding of waste issues to personal action to reduce waste. We have divided the lessons up into reduce, reuse, recycle, and compost sections. In each of these categories there is a lesson for primary, junior and intermediate levels.

EcoSource Secondary Green Schools Program

The EcoSource Secondary Green Schools Program is designed to support Mississauga high schools in waste reduction efforts. The Program builds on the Elementary Green Schools Program and adopts the principles of whole school participation and “walking the talk”!

Youth and Local Food Classroom Workshops

EcoSource has been providing environmental education programs to schools since 1986. Our interactive workshops are led by certified teachers or others experienced in the field of environmental education. Our Local Food workshops are suitable for various grade levels and are designed to support content and skill expectations in various subject areas of the Ontario Curriculum.

EcoSource has teamed up with Evergreen, the University of Toronto at Mississauga, the City of Mississauga and Credit Valley Conservation to deliver naturalization projects in Mississauga public spaces. We're building healthy communities through public participation in planting and stewardship activities (that's where you come in!).
