EcoSource/York University Summer Certificate Program, 2011
Sustainability and Education Leadership

Each July, EcoSource and York University's Faculty of Education offer a professional development, university recognized certificate course focused around Educating for Sustainable Development (ESD).

The course for 2011 addresses Sustainability and Education Leadership; rekindling ecological commitments, sharing passions and forging new alliances.

The certificate is open to all educators, teachers, ENGO members, educational and social activists and students and focuses on ESD and EE education, schooling, curriculum and program development.  It is structured around the illumination of new Ministry of Education documents and policies and asks "What are the next steps in EE and ESD in Ontario and further afield?"

Course Units include;

  • Exploring and creating possibilities within critical awareness of schooling, education and sustainable development
  • Leading, managing and influencing sustainable social change
  • Renewing and rejuvenating connections to the environment
  • New policies and practices in Ontario
  • Shaping new approaches to education as activism

Come get inspired by stories of challenge and success, grassroots movements and accompanying governmental policies and a community committed to change.
